Anxiety and Fatigue

Anxiety is among the most common causes of fatigue, and is known to affect forty million adults in the US every year. In essence, anxiety fatigue refers to being afraid of imagined or real danger, which manifests itself in the form of intestinal or stomach discomfort, extreme fatigue, weakness, panic, trembling, and increased heart rate. The largest diagnosis of mental illness in the US was made up of this disorder.

Anxiety: A Cause of Fatigue

Anxiousness is one of the most common causes of fatigue. Feelings of restlessness and physical pain or discomfort are often created by anxiety, and this serves to increase feelings of exhaustion and extreme fatigue. Furthermore, if you are being plagued by fatigue, you will have trouble sleeping throughout the nights, thus causing further fatigue. The anxiety fatigue cycle is not one that can be easily broken.

Reduce Your Anxiety and Cure Your Fatigue

Many methods are available which you can use to reduce your anxiety level. Some of these are:

Relaxation Techniques – You can add some relaxation techniques to your day on a regular basis in order to lower your anxiety. These techniques may include guided imagery, controlled breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation.

Diet changes – Getting rid of products with caffeine, refined sugars, artificial preservatives, chemicals, and dyes from your diet will help with your insomnia and allow you to rest your body. Getting rid of stimulants like thee can also reduce your blood pressure levels, lower your heart rate and help to improve your overall health.

Avoid alcohol and Illegal Drugs – Even though you may feel as if you get some type of short term relief when you consume alcohol or use drugs, these things only increase your anxiety in the long term and can result in very serious problems.

Exercise – Adding some healthy activities to your daily routine is the advice that is most recommended. You don’t have to have an expensive membership at the gym or a lot of spare time to do exercise. Walking for 20 minutes each day during the week and riding a bike for half an hour on weekend days van really help to reduce your anxiety as even such a small amount of exercise helps you to release endorphins in order to improve your cognitive functioning and to better the mood that you are in. Doing outdoor activities is also beneficial as it also reduces anxiety through the means of nature.

Acupuncture – This is a type of medicine which originated in China and is said to can treat psychological disorders via the insertion of needles into points of the skin where there is a blockade to the energy flow.  It is believed by some that it can be used for reducing stress and anxiousness.
